I'm not normally one for novelty beers, but I'm loving Rogue Chipotle. You can't really go wrong with a name like that.

When my uncle Anthony was a teenager he was a mod and part of a local scooter club. His gang was asked to travel down Brighton way to be extras in Franc Roddam's Quadrophenia. His father, my grandfather, pretty much said "Sure, but..."--there's always a but--"... don't expect to finish school then." The filming was the exact same day as Anthony's final school exams.

Needless to say Anthony never made the cut, but his friends did, and the lad in the film with the Union Jack sewn to the back of his parka is still his friend today. I thought about this when exiting the subway this morning as I spotted this Fashion Week footsoldier above. Even though Anthony didn't make the film, he brought me Northern Soul, rides on vintage Lambrettas, and the realization that watching Quadrophenia with the sound off is actually--somehow--even better.

This morning (it was still dark!), Andi and I got a peek at the Spring 2008 collections from Jack Spade and Kate Spade. My favorites were:

I - Kate Spade "Taxi" mittens
II - Kate Spade "Hi 5" mittens
III - Jack Spade leather journal cover (for hugging our beloved Delfonics books, no less). I love me some finger ribbon.

And not-really-part-of-the-collection-but-excellent-anyway:

IV - The shelf art direction. I could live in their library.
V - The food. Oh, the miniature food. They always have the best Fashion Week food, and this morning was no exception. This is a scoop of scrambled egg atop a potato cone. Other highlights: one-inch square steak and eggs--with a little fried quail egg; mango and watermelon lollipops; and tiny glazed donuts.

Good work. Look out for the Jack Spade reversible tote bag made in collaboration with the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co., with proceeds supporting the excellent 826.

And I'm pretty sure this beat being at the tents.

Buy a copy of Pedestrian Errors by Cheryl Weaver, published by the Clean Slate Press in 2000. It'll explain itself, because it's genius.
